Description
A concept project inspired by a bus simulator game, Greenvale Transit is a brand concept of a transportation agency, based on several transportation agencies in terms of concept design.
For this concept, I wanted to explore its development and take it to the next level by creating an entire brand guide and examining the process of building an effective brand.
Challenges
Although I had established several key features in the past, there were components I would need to upgrade to bring this brand to life. For one, I had to refine the logo significantly.
Taking inspiration from several transit logos in the U.S. and Canada, I simplified the logo for accessibility and made it symbolic to represent the county's roads.
I also had to take into account the brand voice I had envisioned, its tone, and the imagery associated with it.
Because this was no longer a simple logo project, I expanded on it as I pleased, creating marketing materials and nomenclature, such as maps, signage, cards, liveries, and iconography. I also considered the typefaces I used, ensuring they aligned with my vision and goals.
What was unique about this concept was that it was the first time I created a brand guide booklet. I went through much trial and error, ensuring the typography was right and further refining the colors.
Accomplishments
By working on this concept, I improved my branding skills. Undertaking this concept also showed me how important research is to developing a brand identity, its challenges, and the revisions needed to solidify that concept.
